Here it is, everyone. The very first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s mystical new film, Tenet, dropped Thursday morning and it looks absolutely great– even though we still have no idea what the thing is really about. Simply watch:

Nolan just recently called Tenet his “ most enthusiastic movie,” which is stating a lot from a guy who built an entire IMAX electronic camera into the body of a WWII fighter plane for his last film. The movie has been offered as an espionage thriller, but the trailer positions it as something closer to Inception than a straight-ahead spy motion picture.

” We’re leaping off from the point of view of an espionage film, but we’re going to a variety of various locations,” Nolan told Home Entertainment Weekly “We’re crossing a couple of various genres in a hopefully exciting and fresh way.” Who knows what, exactly, those categories are, but it certainly feels like Tenet has some sci-fi things going on, right? Plus, there’s all that discuss the afterlife, and that auto accident completely reversed, and, wait, those boats are sailing in reverse, too, and the fact that the title is a palindrome feels like a hint, and … uh, whatever, who cares. It’s the brand-new Christopher Nolan film! What more do you require?

Tenet stars John David Washington, Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, among others. It’s due out July 17,2020 Till then, give the trailer a watch above and unsuccessfully try to find out even one plot point from the entire two-minute runtime.
